Production Manager – The Glasshouse International Centre for Music Deadline for applications: 5pm, Monday 1st December 2025Reports to: Senior Production ManagerLocation: The Glasshouse International Centre for MusicWorking hours: 40 hours per weekSalary: £35,913 per annum About The Glasshouse The Glasshouse is a venue where audiences can experience a wide range of music, from rock legends to opera singers. Our aim is to nurture new musicians and showcase them on the same stages as platinum‑selling performers. We provide top‑notch gigs, concerts and classes in our venue at Gateshead Quays, across communities in the North East and through live streamed performances and digital lessons. About the Role You will bring events and performances to life by providing practical technical support, thoughtful planning, and a collaborative approach. You will work closely with colleagues, clients, and partners to ensure every event runs smoothly from early planning stages through to delivery. You will support safe and high‑quality production standards, share knowledge with the team and help maintain a positive working environment where everyone can do their best work. Key Responsibilities Provide advanced technical guidance and solutions for events and performances Work closely with internal and external teams to meet event requirements, providing expert technical and logistical advice Advance shows and events, working simultaneously on multiple projects with an organised approach Use venue CAD software to produce to‑scale stage plans and hall or room layouts Produce technical quotations for clients, collate technical specifications, and implement high‑standard technical requirements Support internal teams with client site visits, quotes, event advancement and oversee delivery where required Maximise commercial income opportunity and support the Trust financially through technical provision Ensure correct allocation of technical equipment resources to events; collaborate with senior technical staff and external suppliers Use venue event management software to collate, analyse and create documentation; create a production advance report for each event Support the Senior Production Manager to ensure events comply with Health and Safety regulations Create event specific Risk Assessments and H&S documentation; collate all event specific H&S documentation for events Generate reports on event outcomes, technical challenges and performance; review processes and report findings to Senior Production Manager Collaborate with internal and external clients; maintain strong relationships with senior members of the Technical Team Assist with maintenance and inspections of technical equipment and resources Deliver guidance and training to the team on best practices and standards; collaborate on process enhancement, new technology adoption and team skills development Adhere to and enforce all organisational policies (Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Customer Care, Inclusion, Equity and Diversity); ensure all clients are aware of all organisational policies and procedures Work on shows, rehearsals and events as part of the Technical Production team, demonstrating knowledge and experience in at least one technical discipline Accept appropriate individual responsibility for the observance, promotion and implementation of Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Customer Care, Inclusion, Equity and Diversity, Discrimination, Bullying and Harassment and all other policies with the Trust; where relevant, ensure appropriate safeguarding is in place for children, young people and adults at risk Experience, Skills and Qualifications At least three years of practical working experience of technical operations for live events, shows and conferences, in venues or external sites (capacity of at least 400 audience members) Hands‑on production management of live events Excellent attention to detail, organisational and project management skills Ability to multitask and manage an evolving workload across multiple projects simultaneously Creative and resourceful problem‑solving skills; able to work to tight deadlines while remaining calm Understanding of technical terminology and documents; ability to assimilate information within technical specifications and translate into working plans Excellent IT skills (PC and Mac hardware & software, Q‑Lab, PowerPoint, Keynote, Zoom, Excel); ability to assimilate new technology and software Awareness and experience of Health & Safety legislation and practice, including Noise at Work and Working at Height Working knowledge of audio, lighting, AV and stage equipment; specialism in operating audio, lighting or AV on events and live productions with up‑to‑date industry knowledge Willingness to work flexibly across a 7‑day a week rota to include evenings, weekends and bank holidays IOSH qualification and/or experience of preparing Risk Assessments and Method Statements Understanding of rigging and ability to read and translate production rigging plots Experience setting up and hosting complex hybrid events (Zoom, OBS, Slido or Wirecast with multiple cameras, sources and end users) Knowledge of WYSIWIG design software and/or CAD or similar software applications Experience stage‑managing live productions / events Commitment to Your Development You will work closely with your manager to identify a training journey that suits your interests.
