We are looking for amotivated, passionate occupational therapist who strives to have a positiveimpact on the health and wellbeing of working aged adults with a Mental Healthcondition.The role is based on the 16bedded adult urgent care ward. You will be working in a friendly and supportiveenvironment, with a focus on providing the very best patient care in a localitycombining sea, moor, history and opportunity.Main duties of the jobWe are looking for anindividual who can demonstrate experience within the OT role, who has theability to work autonomously as well as part of a team, have sound decisionmaking skills and effective clinical reasoning.The successful candidatewill work creatively to develop the role and work with senior members of theteam on driving service development. The successful applicant will be requiredto demonstrate excellent assessment and interpersonal skills, supportingpatients and their families through shared decision making, to make informedchoices about their treatment and conditions.The successful applicantwill provide supervision for junior members of the team. We are a Disability Confident Leader.Job responsibilitiesJob PurposeAssess and treat own specialist caseload of clients within identified settingsAct as clinical OT within the inpatient services, ensuring effective planning and delivery of the service and manage a small team ensuring effective planning and delivery of the serviceTo ensure supervision for OT staff within the ward setting to ensure a high standard of client care.Contribute to the development of high quality occupational therapy services through the professional clinical governance frameworks including auditProvide professional advice and expertise to the urgent inpatient management team.Please see separate document for full job description.Person SpecificationQualificationsDiploma / Degree Occupational TherapyEvidence of further training, with particular emphasis on mental healthShort specialist courses to Masters equivalent levelExperienceSubstantive post-graduate experience working in a range of mental health settingsExperience of supervising a range of peopleExperience of leading service developmentExperience of working in urgent/acute inpatient servicesKnowledge and SkillsEvidence of ongoing professional developmentSound knowledge of current OT theory and practiceHighly developed communication / interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate clearly and confidently to a range of peopleExcellent literacy and IT skillsAbility to present information logically and concisely both verbally and in writingAbility to deal with complex and emotionally charged situationsBe flexible and adaptable to change.
