Essential Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities The Care Manager/“Designated Care Manager” provides hands‑on care and support for a consistent group of residents, maintaining a safe and comfortable environment while championing quality of life for all seniors. Resident Care Review, read, notate, and initial Daily Log to document and learn about residents. Participate in the development of the ISPs and monthly updates. Review designated assignments. Manage a designated group of residents during the shift, conduct regular checks, and monitor their well‑being. Observe, report, and document changes in condition such as skin, behavior, weight, and activity participation. Attend daily Cross Over meetings led by the lead care manager. Notify supervisor and resident care director of increased care needs. Respond promptly to security system and resident call bells; reset bells as necessary. Greet guests, family members, residents, and team members. Answer, direct, and respond to phone calls professionally and courteous. Assist with continence management; dispose of products properly to maintain sanitation. Communicate with families and act as a resource as needed. Help residents maintain independence, safety, and dignity in accordance with Resident Rights. Lead and assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) and encourage participation in ISP‑indicated activities. Engage residents in life‑skills and enrichment activities throughout the day. Maintain a warm, calm environment with a positive emphasis. Follow all safety regulations and standard care precautions. Host and engage in daily activities with residents. Risk Management and General Safety Collaborate with community team to ensure compliance with national and provincial safety regulations. Apply safety procedures, including PPE, fire extinguishers, SDS, and lockout‑tagout. Report accidents, incidents, unsafe conditions, and hazardous equipment immediately. Maintain clear exits and adhere to fire codes. Practise safe handling and disposal of blood‑borne pathogens and hazardous materials. Report occupational exposures promptly. Store oxygen tanks safely; monitor levels and replace when necessary. Housekeeping and Laundry Services Maintain and clean residents’ rooms, including bed making, trash removal, and sweeping. Wash residents’ laundry as directed. Wash and fold dining room linens and napkins. Complete assigned housekeeping tasks and keep common areas tidy. Dining Service Serve meals and assist in dining room tasks. Ensure a pleasant dining experience for all meals. Assist with dining room set‑up and clean‑up. Participate in pre‑meal meetings and follow dietary instructions as in ISP. Document resident dining habit changes in the daily log. Provide room service delivery as needed. Practice safe food handling per universal care precautions. Specific Responsibilities for Reminiscence Neighborhood Care Manager Invite residents to participate in life‑skills and enrichment activities. Encourage attendance at afternoon socials. Incorporate ‘Creating Pleasant Days’ into residents’ daily routines. Integrate life‑skills into daily routines. Blend multi‑sensory experiences into residents’ day. Participate in monthly letters home and letter writing with residents and families. Training and Contributing to Team Success Participate as a team member and work toward team goals. Demonstrate the Team Member Credo in daily interactions. Commit to serving residents and guests through our Principles of Service. Contribute to engagement programs and processes. Attend regular meetings and training sessions as directed. Comply with infection control, bio‑hazard container placement, and removal techniques. Maintain compliance with required training and regulatory standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Core Competencies Remain calm in difficult situations. Handle multiple priorities. Communicate effectively in writing and orally. Organise and manage time efficiently. Demonstrate good judgment and problem‑solving skills. Experience and Qualifications High School diploma or GED (required per state/regulations). CPR Certificate and First Aid as required. Minimum age 18 years. Preferred: previous experience working with seniors. Desire to serve and care for seniors. Ability to make decisions in the resident’s best interest.
