Applicants must live within a 20‑minute radius of the base location, LS9 0PJ. Work Hours & Shift Requirements Permanent position, 37 hours per week. Minimum of 3 nights in a 4‑week period. Flexible working patterns and job‑share options are available. Responsibilities Proactively investigate 'Distribution Monitored Areas' using acoustic detection equipment to identify, pinpoint and promote leaks for repair. Carry out leak detection and investigation activities on the Water Network and locate leaky assets. Apply safety and risk assessment procedures, including dynamic risk assessments and POWRA's. Differentiate water usage from leakage and other network sounds. Use a range of leakage detection techniques such as sounding, correlating, step testing and acoustic logging. Collaborate with experienced Leakage Inspectors, other stakeholders and service partners. Support the achievement of Leakage reduction targets and deliver sustainable results for Yorkshire Water. Qualifications & Skills Willingness to work unsociable hours (nights and weekends). Full EU driving licence with a maximum of 6 points. Strong interpersonal skills. Commitment to company values and behaviours. Passion for exceptional customer service. Proficiency in corporate systems and IT applications. Grade 4 (C GCSE) or equivalent in maths and English language (proof of qualifications required). Preferred Experience Experience in a commercial or regulated environment. Background in water, wastewater, utilities, or manufacturing. Data analysis skills. Knowledge of leakage principles. Training & Development Work in the field and classroom to achieve Level 3 Diploma in Water Network Leakage. Successful completion requires a minimum pass at the end‑point assessment within two years. Apprenticeship standard criteria must be met.
