Role Overview As an Assistant/Estimator, you will support the delivery of accurate and reliable cost planning and estimating services across infrastructure, transportation, and electricity transmission projects. Working closely with senior/associate cost consultants and project teams, you will contribute to cost analysis, benchmarking, and preparation of cost models, supporting Arcadis’ commitment to sustainable solutions and cost transparency. Responsibilities Assist in developing detailed and accurate cost plans and estimates for construction activities (civil, mechanical, electrical) within infrastructure and transport projects. Support the preparation of cost models and cost breakdown structures (CBS) under guidance. Contribute to cost analysis, competitive benchmarking, and presentation of findings to internal teams. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation with support. Conduct quantity take-offs and input data into BoQ. Engage with suppliers and evaluate quotations. Maintain a database of cost costing and vendor information. Use cost planning and estimating software (e.g., Cost‑X, CANDY) and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for analysis and reporting. Collaborate with strategic sourcing, contract management, and project teams to ensure accuracy of cost plans. Maintain strong attention to detail and accuracy in all deliverables. Support the implementation of Arcadis’ sustainability and carbon reduction strategies in cost planning. Engage in continuous professional development and support knowledge‑sharing within the team. Essential Qualifications Minimum 2 years (Assistant level) and 4 years (Estimator) experience in cost planning and estimating within infrastructure, transportation, or electricity transmission sectors. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and project documents. Familiarity with relevant cost estimating software and data analysis tools (CANDY and Cost‑X). Good understanding of standard methods of measurement (CESMM 4). Degree or working toward a degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Eligible for national security vetting (BPSS, SE) depending on project requirements. Proficiency in using relevant data analysis and visualization tools (Power‑Bi and Tableau). Desirable Qualifications Experience with low‑code/no‑code platforms to automate workflows, streamline data management, and support digital transformation initiatives. Membership or working towards membership of a professional body (CIOB, RICS, ICE, etc.). Experience in project cost planning for regulated companies. Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations. Key Skills & Attributes Analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
