Postdoctoral Researcher – National Oceanography Centre (NOC), SouthamptonPostdoctoral Researcher: Marine Physicist, Marine Physics and Ocean Climate (Fixed Term, Full Time)Postdoctoral Researcher: Marine Physicist, Marine Physics and Ocean Climate, National Oceanography Centre (NOC), SouthamptonOverviewWe are seeking a postdoctoral researcher in NOC’s Marine Physics and Ocean Climate (MPOC) group to investigate large-scale ocean uptake and heat and carbon. The successful candidate will undertake targeted research tasks to contribute to large research projects and support the communication and management of these projects.ResponsibilitiesAnalyse observations and observational products to quantify variability of ocean properties and ocean circulation and identify the impacts of that variability on the oceans role in the climate system.Focus initially on the South Atlantic, including analysis of data from Argo floats to identify the importance of Indian Ocean waters in setting the properties of the upper 1000 m.Contribute to communicating research tasks and achievements within the projects (AtlantOS and SMURPHS) through publications and presentations.Support the communication and delivery of NERC-funded projects, TICTOC and ABC-fluxes. Work with Principal Investigator Elaine McDonagh to ensure delivery of these projects and communicate achievements to investigators and other stakeholders.Collaborate with the MPOC group and broader research network to advance project goals and scientific outputs.About youMotivated and productive scientists who can work as part of an international, collaborative team of researchers, postdoctoral researchers, investigators and students.What we can offer youCompetitive remuneration (Band 6): £28,200 to £30,600 per annum.Part-time pro-rata salary with full access to NERC benefits.Fixed Term Appointment for two years, with full-time hours (37 per week) or pro-rata for part-time.RCUK pension scheme, 30 days annual leave plus 14 public/local days off, and opportunities for training and development.About usThe National Oceanography Centre (NOC), part of the Natural Environment Research Council, is a national research organisation delivering integrated marine science and technology from the coast to the deep ocean.
