We seek a good team player, someone with strong organisational and communication skills, who supports and embodies the Trust's values of kind, connect and bold. Ward 10 is a busy diabetes, endocrinology and general medical ward caring for patients of all ages and a wide range of complex conditions. The ward service co‑ordinator will assist with day‑to‑day running of the ward; the successful applicant must be reliable, hardworking and able to use their own initiative when working under pressure. Main duties of the job The post holder will work as an integral part of the clinical team, ensuring a seamless approach to the provision of non‑clinical services, delivering high‑quality patient care. Assist the clinical manager, ward colleagues, catering and housekeeping operatives to secure effective delivery of services, maintaining the patient environment. Perform additional duties as directed by the clinical team, such as clinical audits. Report repairs to keep ward environment safe. Maintain a clean, tidy and welcoming ward environment, complying with infection control and health & safety regulations. Monitor, order and organise ward stock essentials, ensuring correct supplies. Collaborate with ward catering staff, supporting meal services, tea rounds and adequate snacks in line with nutritional and cultural choices. Person Specification Qualifications Evidence of Level 2 in Maths & English (CSE Grade 1 / GCSE Grades 4–9 or A*–C / Level 2 Functional Skills / O Level grade A–C / Level 2 National Certificate / Level 2 National Diploma / Level 2 ESOL) Evidence of Level 3 qualification or above in Health / Social Care or Hospitality & Catering (BTEC / CACHE Level 3 Award / Level 3 Certificate or Diploma) or 2 A levels or equivalent NHS experience. Evidence of completion of training associated with health / care / hospitality or catering roles (e.g., Customer Service, Food Hygiene, Care Certificate, Health & Safety, COSHH). Evidence of completion of in‑house training via online platforms, Moodle, or other in‑house training. Experience Considerable experience in a health/care or hospitality/catering role that is customer-facing in an NHS or health‑care provider setting, as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience of undertaking audits of stock and replenishment of supplies. Understanding of the roles that make up the health and care staff team within a hospital. Knowledge of Health & Safety, Infection Prevention & Control, Food Hygiene standards, Moving and Handling, and Customer Service skills. Awareness of potential exposure to distressing situations in hospital patient care. Understanding of how this role contributes to patient health and wellbeing. Awareness of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and their relevance to this role. Understanding of Safeguarding and its relevance to the role. Understanding of Data Protection and Confidentiality. Supports ward/service routines and structures. Participates in role-associated training. Supports and educates new staff on role duties. Additional Criteria Good written & verbal communication in English. Team player with ability to work under supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Time management and prioritisation skills. Insight into evaluating personal strengths & development needs, seeking advice where appropriate. Ability to manage non‑routine and unpredictable workload. Capability to recognise and resolve routine issues, escalating when necessary. Willingness to undertake training/education related to the role (e.g., Health & Safety, COSHH). Positive, flexible, solution‑focused attitude within role boundaries. Patient focus with clear reasoning behind application. Initiative and reliable, flexible, able to remain calm when faced with challenging situations. Understanding when to raise concerns to a registered health‑care professional. Flexibility to work a range of shift patterns across a 7‑day week, including public holidays.
