Technical Business Analyst Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid/Flexible Working) Organisation: George Watson’s College Recruitment Partner: Evolve IT Recruitment Ltd About the Role This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Analyst to lead and deliver meaningful IT projects that drive operational improvements and enhance the learning environment. You’ll collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, analyse and optimise complex systems and processes, and help shape the future of digital education at one of Edinburgh’s most respected institutions. As a Technical Business Analyst, you’ll be at the heart of planning, execution and transformation from Google Workspace to an M365 environment. Your expertise will ensure projects are delivered on time and in alignment with organisational strategy. You’ll work closely with colleagues to understand current processes, data flows, and operational challenges, then recommend and implement scalable business and technical solutions that make a difference. You’ll support data migration activities, ensuring data integrity throughout extraction, transformation, validation, and loading. Developing insightful reports and dashboards (with Power BI) which enable data-driven decision‑making across the College. You’ll also troubleshoot technical issues, champion best practices in IT security and compliance, and prepare clear documentation to keep everyone informed. Facilitating workshops and discovery sessions, you’ll translate business needs into technical specifications, ensuring solutions are robust, secure, and future‑ready. What We’re Looking For Proven experience as a Business Analyst or Technical Business Analyst in a complex or enterprise environment. Strong background in IT project delivery, digital transformation, or systems implementation. Demonstrated ability to analyse, optimise, and document business processes and data flows. Experience with data governance, data integrity, and reporting tools such as Power BI (or similar). Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Clear and confident communicator, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels. Well‑versed in IT security, compliance, and governance practices. (Desirable) Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related fields. (Desirable) Certifications such as BCS, IIBA, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum, and familiarity with cloud platforms like Microsoft 365. Why Join George Watson’s College?
