ESN Engineer – Ericsson Job Overview: As an ESN Engineer you will own a designated group of sites, working as part of a four‑person team covering adjacent territories. Your main responsibilities will be to proactively maintain sites, collaborate with other ESN engineers and the wider FSO team to solve problems, and boost network resilience and availability. The role requires a flexible schedule, participation in a 24/7 on‑call rotation, potential shift work, and travel to remote islands for service recovery. You should be prepared to lead and complete recovery in major network event scenarios within your area or adjoining areas. Key Responsibilities: Conduct corrective maintenance activities and manage site facility operations. Taken full responsibility for assigned ESN sites, proactively maintaining them to prevent failures. Lead problem management in your area, resolving major issues in your own and neighbouring areas. Work individually and as part of the FSO and Ericsson teams to achieve right‑first‑time resolution within customer SLAs, without compromising safe working practices. Carry out reactive and proactive maintenance on multi‑customer, multi‑technology networks, achieving agreed performance targets (mostly EE/ESN). Participate in a 24/7 call‑out rota covering all equipment in the service area. Assist in the development and review of FSO processes and procedures to maximise efficiency. Skills & Qualifications: Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) transmission and receiver systems used in mobile communications. Knowledge of AC/DC power systems (single phase and three phase) and UPS systems, including deployed ESN generators. Understanding of satellite backhaul systems and rectification and power distribution systems. Familiarity with GSM, UMTS and LTE fundamentals, as well as cellular network fundamentals, mobility management, and cell planning. Knowledge of Radio Access Network and Core Network architecture. Experience with antenna systems, mast‑head amplifiers, feeder systems and connectors. Additional Requirements: This role is based in Scotland and reports directly to the Regional Manager.
