Highway Maintenance and Asset Management Technician

About The Role You’ll assist with the design, delivery and supervision of highway maintenance and improvement schemes, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and to a high standard. Responsibilities Capturing, managing and analysing highway asset data using GIS and WDM systems Assisting in the planning and delivery of small to medium highway maintenance projects Supporting the development of Reading's Highways Asset Management policies and systems Monitoring budgets and preparing reports and technical drawings Liaising with contractors, councillors, members of the public and partner organisations Qualifications A good standard of literacy, numeracy and IT skills Experience working in highways, transport or asset management (or a related technical environment) Strong communication and organisational skills The ability to manage your own workload and make sound decisions A full UK driving licence and access to transport Experience with WDM or UKPMS systems and an understanding of the Highways Act 1980 would be an advantage, though training will be provided Benefits A competitive salary alongside a range of benefits Generous holiday entitlement – 25 days holiday each year plus bank holidays, rising to 30 days after 5 years’ service and 33 days after 10 years’ service, with the option to buy additional leave A wide range of flexible working opportunities Modern working environment at the 19 Bennet Road Offices located off Junction 11 of the M4 Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) Access to Kennet Day nursery rated outstanding by Ofsted located at The Civic Offices in Reading town centre Season Ticket Loan to help with the cost of your rail/bus journey to and from work Lease car salary sacrifice scheme allowing you to lease a brand new, greener car for three years, with the monthly fee including insurance, servicing and road tax Access to an online employee benefits portal with new offers every month You’ll be part of a team that relies on each individual to play their part to the best of their ability.
