Co-funded by Cardiff & Vale University Health Board and Wales Cancer Research Centre (WCRC), this Clinical Research Fellowship will be focussed on translational research in haematological malignancies and providing clinical cover of clinical trials research activities within Cardiff & Vale UHB Department of Haematology and the Cardiff Cancer Research Partnership (CCRP). The Haematological Cancer Service at UHW is the largest in Wales and one of the busiest in the UK. It provides a secondary Haematology service to the population of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan (around 500,000 people) and a regional (tertiary) service to the population of South and West Wales for haematopoietic stem cell transplantation and treatment of acute leukaemia and complex lymphoma. It is the only level 4 Haematology unit in Wales. The clinical service is supported by highly sophisticated diagnostics within the Directorate of Laboratory Medicine.
