Youth Support Worker | Early Help Targeted Youth Support | Lancaster & Morecambe | Part time Do you want to make a real difference to young people’s lives then this is a fantastic opportunity for you to ‘Step into Youth Work’. Overview The Targeted Youth Support team, part of Lancashire County Council’s Children and Family Wellbeing Service, is looking to recruit a 4‑day, 29.6‑hour a week worker as a Youth Support Worker for Lancaster & Morecambe District. The post is to work up to 4 nights per week, one of them a Friday evening, delivering youth work in one of our buildings and/or on detached using our mobile youth bus. The Service is a key contributor to the prevention and early intervention/early help agenda for Lancashire County Council, enabling young people to succeed by providing high‑quality informal education opportunities and supporting their personal and social development. The Targeted Youth Support team are the biggest employers in the UK of JNC‑qualified youth workers and are incredibly proud of this. We follow the Pink Book terms and conditions, and offer more leave due to the unsocial hours. As part of JNC you will also be on a Teachers Pension if you so desire. Youth work focus Personal and social development – the skills and attributes of young people – rather than to ‘fix a problem’. It is an educational process that engages young people in a curriculum that deepens their understanding of themselves, their community and the world in which they live and supports them to proactively bring about positive changes. Responsibilities Deliver core youth work, including detached/outreach working on the streets with young people. Work with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEN) young people 11‑19 (up to 25 if SEN). Run safe spaces and targeted youth places and spaces. Support district youth councils and link to Lancashire Youth Council, regional and national work. Offer enhanced programmes such as LGBTQ+ groups or issue‑based mental health groups. Qualifications You will have a nationally recognised JNC Level 3 qualification for Youth and Community Workers and evidence of continued professional development. If not, we may consider a successful candidate who has the ability to study at Level 3 and the willingness to complete a JNC Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Level 3 Youth Work Practice, paid by the Council as part of an apprenticeship route.
