OverviewPrincipal/Senior or Experienced HV Plant Design Engineer (Substation Design) at StantecThe opportunity is in Stantec’s Energy team within the transmission and distribution sector. You will work on a wide variety of projects across technical disciplines for clients across the country, including HVDC, interconnectors, windfarms, substations, OHL, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, new builds, refurbishments, and connection schemes. You will contribute to FEED design and detailed design for substation refurbishment/extensions and new-build projects, collaborating with other disciplines and supporting/leading design activities. Ideally, you will have experience with key UK T&D clients.Join a growing and collaborative team focused on developing innovative and sustainable solutions to industry-wide efficiency and environmental challenges. This role supports the UK energy transition with opportunities for development within the team.More information about our Energy sector teams can be found at Stantec Energy Transition – UK.What You Will Do (Responsibilities)Your role is to work as part of the HV team for electrical substation design projects, supporting and leading FEED and detailed design activities for substation refurbishments/extensions and new-builds. You will collaborate with other disciplines and engage with clients to deliver design solutions that meet project goals and standards.You will help develop, specify, and produce design deliverables for HV Substation plant electrical power systems and associated components, with an understanding of protection and control (P&C) aspects where applicable. You will coach and work within the wider energy team, sharing knowledge and promoting best practices.QualificationsYou will ideally have:a degree in Electrical Engineeringexperience as a HV Substation / Primary Plant Design Engineerexperience in design and specification production for HV Substation plant electrical power systems and componentsan understanding of P&C aspects (preferable)You should be a proactive individual with knowledge of the electricity transmission and distribution industry, with the ability to supervise and collaborate within the energy team. The role may suit individuals from various technical backgrounds; training and development will be provided by Stantec for the right candidate.
