Locum Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist – CAMHS Crisis & ICCS Location: East London CAMHS (ELFT) Job Overview: This role provides psychiatric assessment and interventions for young people in crisis across two teams: East London CAMHS Alternatives to Admissions Pathway and CAMHS Crisis and Intensive Community Care Service. The position is a part‑time job share of 6 PAs per week. Main Responsibilities Offer psychiatric assessment and interventions for young people in mental health crisis, including oversight of management and diversion from admission to intensive alternatives. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, providing clinical leadership to care planning and goal‑based interventions. Attend senior management meetings to contribute to clinical governance structures and strategic planning. Represent the service in multi‑agency forums and lead clinical governance. Supervise junior medical staff. Maintain flexibility and responsiveness due to unpredictability of working with young people in crisis and associated risks. Essential Criteria Full GMC registration. MRCPsych qualification. Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register or CCT in the appropriate specialty (or within 6 months). Section 12 approved and Approved Clinician status or willingness to apply for approval. Extensive clinical knowledge and excellent clinical skills, including assessment and management of CYP with complex mental health disorders. Approach based on critical enquiry and evidence‑based practice. Sound knowledge of legal frameworks (consent, Mental Health Act, Children Act, safeguarding). Strong leadership, coordination and communication skills. Ability to build effective relationships with patients, families, colleagues, and professionals. Ability to cope with considerable pressure and adapt to constant change and new demands. Enthusiasm and initiative to pursue innovation and uphold high standards for patients, juniors, colleagues and the organisation. Willingness to travel to community venues and patients’ homes. Adherence to the highest ethical and professional standards. Desirable Criteria Higher academic degree. Travel Ability to travel to community venues, including patients’ homes.
