Reporting directly to the Warehouse Team Leader, the Deputy Team Leader plays a key role in supporting the leadership and management of the warehouse team. You will ensure that daily objectives are clearly communicated and achieved safely and efficiently. This includes responsibilities such as goods‑in and goods‑out, loading/unloading, picking, packing, replenishment, and returns. Acting as a motivator and role model, you will ensure the team consistently upholds site security, stock integrity, and health and safety standards. Your leadership will contribute to the accuracy and quality of the team's performance, enhancing the reputation of the Leader brand by ensuring right‑first‑time order fulfilment and excellent customer service. Requirements Key Responsibilities Leadership and Supervision Support the Team Leader in managing staff to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and productivity across all warehouse activities, including shift timings, breaks, and overall accountability for time on site Assist in driving compliance, morale, discipline, and performance at both individual and team levels Help monitor and achieve team and business key performance indicators (KPIs) using whiteboards, shared sheets, and WMS systems Provide guidance during tasks such as loading, unloading, and order processing to ensure timely and accurate vehicle departures Conduct return‑to‑work interviews and address attendance concerns with the Team Leader's guidance Help induct, train, and support warehouse operatives, ensuring processes are followed correctly and staff well‑being is prioritised Complete detailed and accurate shift handovers to maintain continuity Supervise and coordinate daily activities, assigning tasks and monitoring performance Operational Management Act as a hands‑on team member, performing any warehouse functions as required Assist with unloading vehicles, goods checks, and processing returns accurately Monitor stock and packaging materials and escalate stock issues to the Team Leader Ensure site operations adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain safety standards Cover for the Team Leader when needed, including key‑holder responsibilities and point of escalation for operational issues Health and Safety Champion health and safety, ensuring all staff adhere to safety protocols and procedures Report and document safety incidents and hazards promptly Ensure proper use and maintenance of all equipment, including MHE and site facilities Act as a first aider and fire marshal, supporting site compliance Quality Control Maintain high standards for customer order fulfilment by ensuring accurate picking, packing, and product quality Monitor the quality of incoming and outgoing goods Support initiatives for process improvement and cost reduction to maximise customer service levels Communication and Coordination Liaise with the Team Leader and Warehouse Manager to ensure seamless operations Handle administrative tasks such as planning and booking deliveries and ensuring documentation is complete Collaborate with other departments, including logistics and customer service, to maintain operational efficiency Performance Standards Maintain high standards in safety, accuracy, attendance, and productivity Ensure all staff handle stock and equipment with care, minimising damage risks Lead by example with exceptional attendance, flexibility, and professionalism Key Skills Experience in a supervisory or team support role in a warehouse environment Strong understanding of warehouse operations and logistics Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Proficiency in warehouse management systems, such as Peoplevox WMS Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities Key Competencies Safety‑first approach Accuracy and attention to detail Leadership and motivation Reliability and flexibility Strong customer focus Ability to manage conflict and resolve issues effectively Benefits Generous Holiday Allowance Enjoy 22 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays, with the flexibility to tailor your time off.
