Advocacy Highland is looking for an Independent Advocacy Worker to support people across Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey.This is a part time role at fifteen hours a week, paying £12.94 an hour with an eight percent employer pension contribution, alongside reasonable travel expenses.Advocacy Highland provides independent, issue based advocacy for people aged sixteen and over who are affected by mental ill health, dementia, learning disabilities, autism and social exclusion.The work ensures that people understand their rights, have their voices heard, and are supported to take part in decisions that affect their lives.You will work one to one with individuals, helping them express their views and wishes.You will attend meetings, appointments and discussions with clients to ensure their voice is represented.You will maintain accurate, confidential case notes and update the organisation’s database.You will take part in team meetings, training sessions and regular supervision.You will help maintain Advocacy Highland’s high standards and values in your day to day work.You will travel across Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey to meet clients and work with partner agencies.You will report to the Advocacy Area Co ordinator, who will provide supervision and support.The salary is £10,093 per year for fifteen hours a week.What you needA good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and confidence using a laptop and smartphone.Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with people from a wide range of backgrounds.The ability to manage your workload, use your initiative and work well with colleagues.A commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of marginalised people.Diplomacy, patience and the ability to stand firm politely when required.Awareness of confidentiality, professional boundaries and small community dynamics.An understanding of why people may require independent advocacy.A full driving licence and access to reliable transport.PVG membership and two references will be required.DesirableExperience working as an advocate or in roles supporting people with communication difficulties.Knowledge of mental health legislation.Familiarity with community care or community support services.An understanding of rural issues and local resources.The ability to explain and promote independent advocacy clearly.This is a meaningful role for someone who believes in equality, inclusion and the right of every person to be heard.Advocacy Highland is a respected voluntary organisation and provides full training for the right candidate.Apply through Highland Jobs today. #J-18808-Ljbffr
