About The Team: You will be joining a national team that supports auditors across our public sector hub offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham and London. The team promotes the delivery of consistent quality through the maintenance of development of our sector methodologies, delivery of in-flight review, development of sector‑specific training and guidance, and direct support on emerging quality risks and complex audit and financial reporting issues. As a Manager in our Public Sector Audit Quality Support Team, you will help support the delivery of high-quality audit by leading reviews, developing guidance, and supporting auditors on complex issues. You'll also play a key role in training and coaching our people, while working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure our public sector audits are consistent, compliant, and high quality. What You'll Do: Quality Reviews – Manage the delivery of engagement quality review and in‑flight reviews, providing timely, constructive feedback to audit teams. Technical Guidance – Work with sector experts to develop and maintain guidance on public sector audit matters, ensuring teams are supported on complex or emerging issues. Regulatory Support – Support audit teams during regulatory file inspections, ensuring findings are addressed and lessons shared. Sector technical contribution – Actively contribute to technical networks and panels, and responding to audit, regulatory and financial reporting consultations. Training & Development – Design and deliver training programmes for public sector auditors, promoting best practice and technical consistency. Provide support delivering VFM consistency panels, reviews, and challenge sessions with engagement leads. What You'll Bring: Professional Qualification – ACA / CA / ACCA / CIPFA (or equivalent). Sector Experience – Strong audit experience in the UK public sector, including NHS and local government; knowledge of the NAO Code of Audit Practice and its application in England. Technical Expertise – Good understanding of International Standards on Auditing (UK) and familiarity with the Audit Scotland Code of Audit Practice (including Best Value and Wider Scope work). Communication Skills – Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly to different audiences.
