Job Title: EDM Machinist Location: Redditch Salary: Circa £14 per hour Hours: Shift Pattern: 39 hours per week: Monday to Wednesday: 4.45pm - 2.45am, Thursday: 4.45pm - 1.45am The Opportunity EMBS Engineering is seeking a skilled and motivated Machinist to join a well-established and innovative precision engineering company located near Redditch. What the role offers Stability / Longevity: A well established company currently undergoing a period of growth Competitive salary: £14 per hour Late Shift Excellent training and development opportunities Plus many more perks & benefits Key Responsibilities Electrical discharge machining (EDM), also known as spark machining or spark eroding, is a non-traditional machining process that uses electrical energy to remove material from a workpiece. It's a precise method for cutting, drilling, and shaping metal parts, especially those with intricate geometries or hard materials. Operate and control EDM machines and other equipment in the area, following relevant procedures. Read and understand CNC machine code to the level necessary for machine setup and operation. Comprehend setup parameters and their impact on the machining process, including datum setting and tool length and wear offsets. Set up machines with the appropriate work holding and tooling, adhering to relevant procedures. Perform machining operations efficiently as per Job Card instructions to meet required output levels. About You Full training on EDM machines will be provided for candidates with a strong machining background either on CNC or Laser machines. If you have an eagerness to learn EDM Machines and work on unique equipment for some market leading customers, this could be a great role for you Essential Requirements Unrestricted right to work in the UK. Willingness to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Ability to commute to Redditch area, reside within a commutable distance or are considering relocation to this area. Proficiency in spoken and written English to effectively perform the role. This position requires the successful candidate to undergo UK security clearance. Skills Required Able to set, operate and program advanced machines such as EDM, Laser, CNC etc Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
