In this role, you will contribute significantly to the mechanical design of our product. You will work closely with a diverse team of engineers and scientists across all stages of development, from R&D to scale production. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and driven, with a strong desire to grow and advance within our rapidly growing company.What You'll DoSupport mechanical design activities for a medical device throughout its development lifecycle, including concepting, prototype design, fixture design, design for manufacture and design for assemblySolve complex mechanical, electromechanical and biomechanical problems through analysis of data, experimental design and creative designContribute towards debugging and root cause analysis effortsResearch existing and emerging technologies and, where relevant, apply them to the betterment of our productProvide technical oversight and support more junior team members in developing their engineering skillsCarry out thorough independent design reviewsCollaborate with external manufacturers and partners to support the fabrication of mechanical componentsEnsure proper engineering processes are carried out including, among others, identifying and quantifying risks, generating requirements and detailed documentation of resultsHave ownership over your own work, planning, budgeting and carrying it through to completionCollect and act upon observations from operators and feedback from users to improve the design and manufacturing process of our productWhat We're Looking For4–7 years' experience in mechanical engineering in a regulated field and end–to–end product developmentHigh competence in 3D mechanical design softwareSignificant experience in designing for manufacture in a variety of fabrication techniques (3D printing, machining, forming, injection–moulding etc.)Confidence in working with multi–disciplinary teams, and understanding engineering trade–offs and interface control requirementsCreative but realistic approach to problem solving and product designStrong technical communication skillsAbility to leverage engineering tools and software to improve efficiency and quality of workAbility to analyse tolerance stack ups to design robust mechanical systemsSkill with hands on engineering, assembly and craft workSolid foundation in fundamental engineering principles (solid mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials etc.)Good understanding of product development processes and relevant standards and regulationsWillingness to contribute to building the company's processes and support trainingBonus Points ForConfidence in basic coding, as applied to analysis of data or hardware controlPractical experience with engineering analysis tools, such as MATLAB/Octave, LabView, ANSYS etc.Foundation in bioengineering and understanding the interaction between engineered products and the human bodyExperience designing microfabricated and high–precision componentsFamiliarity with basic electronicsExperience with fluidics and/or microfluidicsUnderstanding of pneumatic circuitsWhy Sava?This is a high–ownership, high–responsibility role in a company that's building something complex, meaningful, and fast.
