HGV Mechanic & Tyre Fitter

About the Company:
Our client is a well-established transport and logistics company based in Beddington Lane, Croydon. They operate a large mixed fleet of HGVs, trailers, and commercial vehicles, providing reliable transport solutions across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced and motivated HGV Mechanic & Tyre Fitter to join their busy on-site workshop team.
Key Responsibilities:
*
Carry out servicing, repairs, inspections, and maintenance on a range of HGVs, trailers, and company vehicles.
*
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, ensuring all repairs are completed to a high standard and in line with DVSA regulations.
*
Perform brake testing, clutch, gearbox, suspension, and exhaust system work as required.
*
Conduct tyre fitting, balancing, repairs, and replacements on all company vehicles.
*
Ensure all maintenance records and defect reports are accurately completed and up to date.
*
Carry out pre-MOT checks and assist with vehicle preparation for testing.
*
Work safely and efficiently, adhering to all Health & Safety procedures within the workshop.
*
Support breakdown recovery when required (on a rota basis).
Requirements:
*
Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic / Technician and/or Tyre Fitter within a commercial vehicle environment.
*
City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) preferred.
*
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
*
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
*
Flexibility for occasional overtime or weekend work
