Department: Academic/Bath Spa University partnership (BSU) Location: Greenford or Stratford (On-Site) Salary: £55,000 Type of Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours per week) Our Vision: Changing lives through education. Role: We are currently seeking Lecturers to teach across undergraduate levels as part of the BSc (Hons) Computing programme. Due to our delivery model, flexibility to teach weekdays, evenings and weekends is required. Please note this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. What you'll be doing As a Lecturer in Computing at Global Banking School you will deliver modules based around the three main themes of the programme: Technology, Software and Data. You will develop and deliver comprehensive course materials that equip students with an understanding of database systems, internet technologies, data, cyber security, networking and business information systems. You will undertake all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment of students and keep up to date with the latest developments in your field and student support practices. Responsibilities All aspects of planning, delivering and assessing student work, ensuring all learning outcomes are met Developing, updating and improving course materials as appropriate Using a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials Actively engaging in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings and other administrative duties Understanding and keeping up to date with latest developments in your field and student support practices Working towards a range of clearly defined objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction and progress About You Holder of a Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable) Previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area Demonstrated extensive knowledge of two or more of the following areas: Programming and software development, Web development, Database systems, Cloud computing, Networking, Cybersecurity, IoT and emerging technologies, Business IT systems, IT management, AI and Machine Learning, Operating Systems, UI/UX Experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback Experience of accurate reporting and ability to maintain thorough and organised student records Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines Excellent communication, interpersonal and team‑working skills Ability to work with diverse groups of people Desirable Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent) Experience of design/development of academic or professional education programmes or equivalent What We Offer 25 days annual leave, plus 8 public holidays 1‑day extra leave per year of service, up to a maximum of 5 days Workplace pension scheme Tuition reimbursement for career development courses Flexible Benefits: Cycle to Work, Workplace Nursery, Tech scheme and much more Perks@Work discounts platform, wellbeing centre and much more Reward and recognition programme £500 award employee referral scheme Discretionary annual performance bonus GBS is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and providing a workplace free from discrimination or harassment.
