Quality Inspector Aerospace Quality Inspector Mechanical Inspector Quality Control Technician Location: Irvine, CA Onsite Flexibility: Onsite Contract Details: Position Type: Contract Contract Duration: 3 months Start: As Soon As Possible Pay Rate: $29/hr Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM Job Summary: The Quality Inspector performs visual and dimensional inspections for aerospace component parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies. This role ensures compliance with manufacturing drawings, customer requirements, and quality standards while producing accurate documentation and inspection reports. The position requires strong inspection experience, knowledge of ASME Y14.5, FAA/ITAR environments, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production setting. Key Responsibilities: Perform receiving, in-process, and outbound inspections on aerospace components for conformance to drawings, quality specifications, and customer requirements. Review and approve all supporting documentation used for product acceptance. Generate manual or computer-based inspection reports for acceptance or rejection of products. Use precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, pin gages, thread plugs, ring gages, surface plates, and optical comparators. Complete data-processing move transactions as required. Apply geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles per ASME Y14.5. Select sampling plans per ANSI/ASQC Z1.4 or customer requirements. Perform first article inspection reports (FAIRs) per AS9102 (minimum 5 years required). Interpret acceptance test procedures (ATP), acceptance test reports (ATR), drawings, job travelers, pick lists, C of Cs, and chemical/physical analysis reports. Work in FAA environments and adhere to DFAR and Nadcap requirements. Ensure compliance with flowed-down contractual requirements for commercial and military products. Required Experience: High school diploma or GED. 5+ years mechanical inspection experience in the aerospace industry. Must reside within 50 miles of zip code 90039 (no relocation offered). Must meet ITAR U.S. person requirements (U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, Asylee, or Refugee). Experience with FAA environments and AS9102 FAIRs. Strong knowledge of GD&T, sampling standards, and inspection documentation. Nice-to-Have Experience: Inspection of materials such as aluminum, alloy, titanium, or stainless steel. Experience with coatings (anodizing, nickel plating, passivation, cadmium/chromium plating). College coursework or ASQ certification. Additional FAA experience.
