Greater London, United Kingdom Haematological Malignancy Research Network Full time

About us The UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) is the biggest UK initiative supporting research to fill the major knowledge gap in our basic understanding of the diseases that cause dementia. Based within the UK DRI at UCL, the De Strooper/Arancibia group focuses on understanding the fundamental mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular emphasis on the cellular phase of Alzheimer’s disease, the neuro‑immune axis, and single‑cell genomics. About the role We are seeking a Research Technician with an interest in the cell biology of late‑onset Alzheimer’s disease (AD) to join our lab as part of an ongoing research effort to understand how AD risk genes modify cellular responses during disease. The current project aims to further develop a triple cell‑culture model of AD and to apply this model for drug‑target identification and drug‑screening studies. The role provides an excellent opportunity to build your expertise in neurodegenerative disease research. This is a unique chance to work on high‑impact, state‑of‑the‑art projects in a stimulating, collaborative international research environment, conducting world‑class science under the guidance of a leader in Alzheimer’s biology. The post is available immediately and funded by the Medical Research Council until 31 March 2028 in the first instance. For a full job description please visit UCL’s online recruitment portal https://www.ucl.ac.uk/work-at-ucl/search-ucl-jobs and search using vacancy reference B02-09853. To apply, please upload a current CV, complete the online application form, and use the supporting statement section or upload a cover letter to outline how you meet the essential and desirable criteria for the role. Please do not upload any additional attachments as these will not be considered by the selection panel. About you You will hold a BSc in medical sciences or a related discipline and bring a solid foundation in molecular and cell biology. You will have hands‑on experience with cell culture, ideally including work with human iPSCs. Ability to work as part of a diverse scientific team and collaborate effectively with both experimental and computational researchers is essential; you will share the mission of the UK DRI and will be committed to supporting high‑quality, impactful science through your technical expertise, problem‑solving ability, and proactive approach. This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role. What we offer As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer great benefits; visit https://www.ucl.ac.uk/work-at-ucl/reward-and-benefits to find out more.
