Lead Physiotherapist – Surgical Rehabilitation Team A great opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, dynamic and forward‑thinking physiotherapist to lead Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s Surgical Rehabilitation Team. The role requires effective communication and leadership skills to supervise and mentor junior staff, and a solid working knowledge of trauma and orthopaedics. Key Responsibilities Provide highly specialist physiotherapy assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for complex elective orthopaedic, trauma and surgical patients. Deliver peri‑operative physiotherapy, including pre‑operative education/optimisation, early mobilisation, pain management strategies and discharge planning. Supervise, clinically support and appraise Band 6 and Band 5 physiotherapists and support the education and assessment of students on placement. Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment within the team. Participate in surgical MDT meetings, whiteboard case discussions and provide specialist advice to medical and nursing staff. Take part in multi‑disciplinary pre‑operative outpatient clinics and contribute to clinical decision‑making about fitness for surgery. Contribute to the running of pre‑ and post‑operative educational/exercise groups for elective surgery and evaluate their effectiveness. Work with occupational therapists, trauma nurse coordinators, rehabilitation assistants and social care to manage post‑operative rehabilitation in the community.
