About the Role Training is delivered at the Remit Automotive Academy in Derby and on block release. You will stay in a hotel for 12 separate weeks (Monday‑Friday) over the duration of the programme, which equals 4 weeks per year. All associated costs for training are covered by the employer at no cost to you. You will be assigned a dedicated Development Coach who will visit you every 4‑6 weeks either at the workplace or remotely via Microsoft Teams, providing one‑to‑one advice and guidance to help you achieve the IMI qualification: Vehicle Damage Panel Technician Level 3. Key Responsibilities Prepare for the repair job, including safety precautions, panel preparation and body measurements. Identify the material used in construction to apply the correct joining techniques and adhere to manufacturer specifications. Interpret relevant technical data and methods to ensure that all joints meet vehicle manufacturer specifications and panels are correctly aligned. Understand and apply the correct joining technology, such as resistance spot welding, MIG brazing or bonding. Remove, repair and replace vehicle body panels and components safely and efficiently. Identify and operate the appropriate repair tools, equipment and devices (panel pulling systems, jigs, alignment tools, spot welders, brazing tools). Communicate additional damage when panels deemed reparable are found to be beyond repair or when damage was not identified during the initial inspection. Detect and rectify faults within a vehicle’s structure that are integral to its safety. Qualifications & Requirements Training schedule, GCSE or equivalent in: Maths (grade 4/C) English (grade 4/C) Share any other relevant qualifications and industry experience.
