Qualified Surgical Care Practitioner (Robotic Surgery) We have an opportunity for a Qualified SCP position working within our Theatre department, with a specialist interest in hepatobiliary and colorectal surgery. You will be skilled in robotic surgery as well as first and second assisting, whilst also participating in aspects of pre, peri and post-operative care of the patient under the direction of the Consultant Surgeons. We are a progressive department and therefore the successful candidate must possess the right skills to drive forward service objectives for development and innovation whilst maintaining the day to day operation of the service. You will be expected to work at an advanced practitioner level and promote clinical excellence throughout the team and the organisation, whilst working closely with the other band 7 theatre coordinators, matrons, consultant colleagues and key stake holders. You will be responsible for the professional development of the operating theatre teams you operationally and professionally manage, therefore it is essential that you possess excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills; have the drive and ambition to develop people. The successful candidate must have an MSc qualification in Surgical Care Practice (or Band 7 appointment will be considered for applicants with willingness to complete if successful in the absence of any appointable Band 8a qualified candidates). Main duties of the job To provide expert assistance and support in robotic surgery to the Consultant Surgeons, SPRs, theatre staff and patients involved in robotic surgery To provide a nurse specialist / Surgical First Assistant qualified nurse / Surgical First Assistant (SFA) role. The primary purpose of this role is to provide guidance and support based on advanced level knowledge to health professionals concerning a specific disease/condition. Demonstrates significant advanced knowledge and skills within speciality and sphere of practice. Supports training within the Robotic surgery theatre team Have corporate identity as an expert within the specialist area of robotic surgery Lead and provide training and education across the organisation in relevant area of practice. Person Specification Experience Qualified SCP already working in relevant robotic surgical specialty Significant clinical experience of surgical pathways as a nurse within a theatre or relevant specialty CNS role. Experience of assisting in laparoscopy/ robotic and open major surgery. Surgical skillset in gynaecology, urology and/or colorectal surgery Evidence of leading service change Skills Proven ability to influence all levels of staff. Ability to work autonomously as an independent practitioner. Proven leadership and team leading skills. Proven ability to manage and progress own professional development. Oversight of training and practice of SCP team. Delivery of the robotic service Knowledge Registered nurse and trained surgical care practitioner with experience in robotic surgery in the relevant specialty Evidence of professional continuous development and portfolio of learning. Management training and leadership development. Recognised as an expert in the field of practice with the ability to clinically assess, diagnose and treat. Knowledge and experience of managing and leading a team. Qualifications Master's degree in Surgical Care Practice or significant experience as a surgical care practitioner/advanced scrub practitioner with basic surgical skills course. Teaching and mentoring qualification. Undertaken undergraduate / postgraduate study in research methodology. Other Ability to manage stressful situations, raise clinical issues and work independently to ensure the patients' needs are being met. Ability to manage and motivate self and others. Ability to be flexible, to have initiative and be able to work in a team. Understands the importance of maintaining a professional image and standards Must be able to work in line with the needs of the service Committed to continuous service development and quality improvement.
