Lead Medicines Information, Formulary and Pathways Pharmacist

The post holder will be a key member of senior Pharmacy team, delivering a high-quality Medicines Information service to clinical staff and patients, whilst developing effective working relationships within a multidisciplinary setting both at the Trust and the wider North East London IC. In addition to being the lead for MI, they will represent Homerton at the Northeast London Formulary and Pathways Group (NELFPG) and they will be the secretary of the Trust's Drugs and Therapeutics Committee (DTC). The role will be central to ensuring the rapid and efficient implementation of the latest evidence‑based guidelines across the Trust for the benefit of patients. It is expected that the successful applicant will be an experienced clinical pharmacist with a substantial track record providing Medicines Information services, excellent time management skills, a proven ability to introduce new drugs into a formulary and extensive experience providing clinical pharmacy services in a hospital setting. They will have successfully completed a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or have equivalent hospital pharmacy experience. Responsibilities Develop and manage the medicines information service, including the Patient Helpline, at HUHFT and ensure a high‑quality, efficient, well‑regarded service. Lead core enquiry answering service, providing professional, clinical and scientific information and advice to healthcare professionals and patients where appropriate. Manage rotational band 6/7 pharmacists, provide in‑depth medicines information training, set objectives and undertake appraisals. Maintain the computerised database (Mi Databank) for all medicines information enquiries and ensure record‑keeping complies with legal requirements and professional standards. Ensure workload statistics for medicines information are recorded accurately so that anticipated demands on the service are highlighted and proactively managed. Attend UKMI conferences and collaborate with the regional MI centre and UKMi in quality assurance programmes, including internal and external audits, user satisfaction surveys and collection of data for benchmarking exercises. Lead and co‑ordinate MHRA drug recalls at HUHFT, including appraising drug shortages and recommending alternative drug supplies.
