AECOM CDM Principal Designer – Environment & Energy SH&E Team AECOM is offering an exciting role for an experienced CDM Principal Designer to become part of our award-winning Environment & Energy SH&E Team, delivering one of the largest projects within our Energy portfolio. As a national team, this role can be based at any of our primary UK offices, with a preference for London and the Southeast. A CDM Principal Designer in our Energy Team will be instrumental in fostering positive engagement, providing support, advice, and guidance, as well as disseminating CDM knowledge across our projects, advocating best practices and reinforcing our commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing in all that we do. The role involves collaborating with our teams and clients to provide Principal Designer services within our Energy business and reporting to the Environment & Energy Principal Designer Lead for the UK&I region. Key Responsibilities Plan, manage, monitor and coordinate the pre‑construction phase of projects. Ensure the general principles of prevention are applied during the pre‑construction phase. Ensure compliance with duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. Coordinate with all duty holders to ensure cooperation during pre‑construction. Assist clients in provision of pre‑construction information. Work with principal contractors to share information relevant to construction and prepare a Health and Safety File for the client at handover. Required Experience & Skills Experience delivering the Principal Designer role on energy or large geographically dispersed projects (roads, pipelines, etc.), ensuring effective and efficient delivery under CDM. High level of commitment to quality, ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple projects or business initiatives simultaneously. Effective communication skills with clarity and precision, strong proficiency in both verbal and written English.
