Join the University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS) as a British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter and Deaf Services Advisor and make a meaningful impact in the lives of cochlear implant users and their families. You will have a unique opportunity to further your career by using your clinical skills within a University setting allowing you to access up-to-date research in this field. We have 2 part‑time (21 hours) permanent vacant posts. Responsibilities Provide high‑quality BSL/English interpreting for clinical appointments, assessments, and group sessions Support patients and families in understanding complex medical and audiological information Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure inclusive, patient‑centred care Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality and professional standards Contribute to Deaf awareness and accessibility initiatives within the Centre Qualifications Registered Sign Language Interpreter with National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD) Level 6 qualification in BSL Interpreting or postgraduate degree in interpreting Experience working in healthcare or with Deaf clients in clinical settings preferred Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity Ability to work independently and as part of a team Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion *An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
