Pay is dependent on experience. Main Duties of the Job We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our dynamic primary care team. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality care to patients in a general practice setting. About Us St John's Medical Centre is a large, fast‑paced GP surgery located in Grantham, offering excellent transport links with easy access to the A1 and the mainline for London. We currently have circa 13,000 patients registered and retained our 'Good' rating in our latest CQC Regulatory Review. We are a Training Practice and regularly welcome GP Registrars, Nursing Placements and Work experience. Verify patient identity and ensure proper labelling of specimens. Prepare collection equipment, maintain sterile technique, and follow infection‑control protocols. Communicate clearly with patients, explaining procedures and reducing anxiety. Maintain accurate records and documentation in electronic health systems. Monitor patients for adverse reactions and provide appropriate care if needed. Manage specimen inventory and ensure equipment is clean and functional. Collaborate with nurses, clinicians, and lab personnel to ensure timely sample processing. Skill & Attributes Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Strong organisational and time‑management abilities. Commitment to patient‑centred care and clinical excellence. IT literacy and familiarity with clinical systems. Person Specification Essential Flexibility to cover annual leave and sickness when required. Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check. Evidence of continuous professional development. Knowledge of current NHS policies, frameworks, and clinical guidelines. Desirable Phlebotomy certification. Experience of working in general practice.
