Overview Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company that specialises in the Energy from Waste (EfW) industry, to recruit a Mechanical Technician for their Power Station in Croydon, South London. The role offers a basic salary of £47,239 plus a £4,694 London location allowance, overtime, call‑out payments, up to 10% bonus and benefits. Responsibilities Report to the Mechanical Engineer and be responsible for: Fault finding and maintaining mechanical assets including steam boilers, pumps, gearboxes, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics, compressed air systems, etc. Apply maintenance techniques and best practices. Ensure compliance with pressure regulations and lifting‑gear inspection requirements. Assist in plant development and projects. Supervise and manage site contractors. Maintain accurate maintenance records on the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination. Ensure the availability of plant spares. Professional Qualifications Ideally possess an NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering. A health and safety qualification such as IOSH will be highly advantageous. Personal Skills, Prior Experience and Knowledge Hands‑on maintenance experience with mechanical systems including boilers, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, cranes, etc. Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill, etc. Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered for this opportunity.
