You will join our Buildings team As our new Structural Engineer, you will be part of our Buildings team, working on a range of exciting local landmarks as well as national and international projects, in a variety of sectors including commercial offices, education, healthcare, heritage, industrial, rail, aviation, defence and residential. We promote home and hybrid working however are looking for candidates that can travel into either our Chester or London offices. Responsibilities Develop and agree structural concepts and design philosophies Inspire and enthuse the engineers and technicians on your projects Liaise with clients and collaborators, representing Ramboll at project meetings Take ownership as day‑to‑day lead on a project or part of a project Push the boundaries of low‑carbon design Key Deliverables in the first 12 months Grow and maintain a network of contacts and be a great ambassador for Ramboll Lead the design process for a project (size suitable for level of experience) Collaborate with colleagues from the local team and beyond to support implementation of various aspects of the Ramboll Business Plan If you did not find a role that matches your interests, join our Talent Community to receive a monthly update on open positions and career news. Qualifications Experience in the design and/or assessment of buildings subject to seismic loads Chartered or near-Chartered with the IStructE, ICE, or international equivalent An excellent communicator capable of explaining complex engineering principles in plain language, verbally, in writing, and through sketching A track record of working on projects with high levels of design, sustainability, or re‑use of existing assets Experience in the design of primary construction materials (steel, concrete, timber) and a good general knowledge of building construction; experience of MMC would be beneficial Must be capable of securing SC clearance likely to be through residency in the UK for at least 5 years Personal qualities Great with people Diverse in outlook and with something different to bring to the table A curiosity to explore – "is there a better way to do this" Happy to ask questions and to answer them Willingness to take responsibility for your projects and development As one of the top 10 building designers in the world, Ramboll works on more than 10,000 building projects each year. 5,000 experts across the world specialise in creating more innovative, sustainable and liveable buildings.
