Job Description:

Senior Sustainability Consultant – London – Hybrid/Remote

A well-established and respected Multi-Disciplinary Consultancy is actively seeking a talented and experienced Senior Sustainability Consultant to join their dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to play a key role in driving sustainability efforts across a variety of Residential and Mixed-Use projects.

The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge in building physics, low-carbon technologies, and sustainable design, and will be passionate about creating more environmentally conscious built environments.

Role Overview:

As a Senior Sustainability Consultant, you will become an integral member of the sustainability team, leading the charge on delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions for a diverse range of clients. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of project activities and collaborating closely with project teams, including clients, architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure the successful delivery of projects that meet both environmental and regulatory standards.

You will apply your expertise in low-carbon and sustainable design to develop innovative strategies that improve the environmental performance of buildings, enhance energy efficiency, and support the transition to a low-carbon future.

Your proficiency in tools and software for evaluating building performance, such as IES VE, will be crucial for conducting detailed assessments of thermal bridging, energy modeling, and overall building performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management & Collaboration: Lead day-to-day activities for sustainability aspects of Residential and Mixed-Use projects. Liaise with internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects stay on track and meet all sustainability and regulatory requirements.
  • Sustainable Design Strategy: Develop and implement innovative sustainability strategies that align with project goals, focusing on energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and the integration of renewable technologies.
  • Regulatory & Policy Expertise: Utilize your knowledge of sustainability policies, including the London Plan and other national building regulations, to guide clients in achieving the necessary sustainability certifications (e.g., BREEAM, LEED, Passivhaus).
  • Building Performance & Thermal Analysis: Perform detailed building performance assessments, including thermal bridging analysis and energy modeling, using advanced software such as IES VE. Ensure that the designs meet performance standards and optimize energy efficiency.
  • Client Guidance & Reporting: Provide expert advice to clients on low-carbon design solutions, including technical recommendations and cost-effective strategies for reducing environmental impact. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on sustainability performance.
  • Continuous Development & Knowledge Sharing: As part of a forward-thinking consultancy, you will contribute to the continuous development of the team's expertise in sustainability and low-carbon technologies, mentoring junior team members and ensuring the highest level of service delivery.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience as a Sustainability Consultant within the construction industry, with a focus on Residential and Mixed-Use projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of low-carbon technologies, sustainable design principles, and building performance assessment methods.
  • Proficiency in energy modeling and building performance software such as IES VE.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the London Plan and other relevant sustainability regulations and building standards.
  • Ability to communicate complex sustainability concepts to clients and stakeholders in a clear and practical way.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead teams and coordinate across multiple disciplines.
