Job Title Environmental Advisor – Sustainability Function, site-based in Birmingham and Bromford. Overview Balfour Beatty VINCI is working with a range of organisations to design and build a 90‑km stretch of HS2 in the West Midlands – Britain's new high‑speed railway. The project enables trains to travel between London and Birmingham and beyond to Manchester, involving bridges, tunnels, viaducts and other infrastructure. You will join a team of 9,000 across 72 nationalities working on this high‑profile construction. Role Responsibilities Identify / obtain / ensure compliance of works with Construction Code of Practice and other environmental procedural and legal requirements. Working with delivery teams to compile environment consent packs prior to application. Management of consents and consent compliance. Development of EMS documentation and systems. Develop and maintain the organisation of environmental documentation and other evidence to demonstrate compliance with procedures, policy and other contract or legal requirements. Development of environmental works solutions/mitigation and monitoring regimes. Roll out of systems to ensure construction methodologies and programme meet Environmental Minimum Requirements and Project procedures/management plans. Management of Environmental Opportunities and Risks, updating of register and progressing selected opportunity actions. Develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders and client representatives to ensure collaborative working relationships. Appreciates the financial implications of decisions affecting environmental issues (e.g. waste costs, delays.) and seeks to ensure best financial outcome for business. Required Experience A sound knowledge of environmental legislation and principles of environmental management systems. Experience of compiling, applying and compliance of environmental consents. Firm grasp of the benefits of working collaboratively to obtain the best outcome. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Experience of delivering environmental based training. Determination to see tasks through to completion, with excellent planning and organisation skills. High level of computer literacy.
