OverviewHydrologist - Senior/Principal (WINEP and Water Resources) – WSP, Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom.What you’ll doLead and contribute to high-profile Water Industry Natural Environment Programme (WINEP) and Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP) projects across the UK.Demonstrate a track record of contributing to the hydrological and water management elements of WINEP investigations and WRMP inputs in recent AMP cycles.Develop rainfall–runoff models and apply calibration techniques.Apply wider hydrology approaches required for water resources applications in England and Wales.Have familiarity with demand management and water resources modelling approaches.Understand and apply the latest UK water resources management regulations including the Water Resources Planning Guidelines and WINEP guidance (e.g., Preventing Deterioration and Environmental Destination).Assess climate change resilience and ensure deliverables meet quality standards for clients and regulators.Possess programming experience (e.g., Python and/or R) or an interest in developing these skills.Write high-quality, concise reports and communicate effectively with the client and regulator stakeholders.Work collaboratively with other sectors and disciplines to deliver hydrological components of diverse projects.QualificationsA water-focused MSc (e.g., hydrology & water resources, sustainable water management) and a BSc in a related subject (e.g., physical geography, earth sciences, geology, civil engineering).You will have gained, or be working towards, chartership with a relevant professional body.What we offerWork-life balance with a hybrid working policy; option to work-from-home two days a week and collaborate in offices across the UK.Inclusive culture welcoming applicants from varied backgrounds; employee resource groups and a culture of belonging.Health & wellbeing support, including Thrive programme and a Virtual GP service; reasonable workplace adjustments; gym membership benefits and menopause support.Flexible working arrangements, part-time options, and the ability to purchase additional leave.Development opportunities through training, mentoring, and Chartership support.#WeAreWSP We are committed to equal opportunity and welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or belief, marital status, pregnancy or maternity/paternity.
