Accounting Manager (Mat Cover) Lagardère Travel Retail Join Lagardère Travel Retail as an Accounting Manager (Mat Cover) in a fast‑paced retail and food service business. This role leads a team of seven accountants and oversees the company’s daily accounting operations, month‑end close, financial reporting and compliance processes. Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor and develop a team of seven accountants across general accounting, tax, VAT, treasury, AP/AR and reporting. Oversee workload allocation, performance management, conduct 1:1s and performance reviews. Manage all daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines. Oversee journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Ensure timely and accurate month‑end, hard close and year‑end close. Supervise AP/AR processes and ensure compliance with internal policies. Prepare and review accurate financial statements in accordance with UKGAAP/IFRS. Prepare and submit the monthly reporting package for corporate consolidation. Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies and statutory reporting requirements. Lead preparation for internal and external audits, including audit schedules and supporting documentation. Manage periodic VAT/GST returns and ensure compliance with Customs & Excise regulations. Maintain accurate tax records and documentation. Analyse changes in legislation and assess impacts. Partner with operations and supply chain to ensure efficient customs processes. Manage daily cash management, banking relationships and payment processes. Implement process improvements, develop SOPs and leverage technology for efficiency. Lead root‑cause analysis of recurring accounting issues and implement corrective actions. Qualifications Part qualified accountant studying towards CA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA. Experience working in an accounts department. Knowledge of SAP system essential. Previous experience in a similar position. Strong knowledge of UKGAAP and IFRS. Experience managing staff within an accounts department. Excellent Excel modelling skills. Key Skills Strong internal and external relationship building. Excellent communicator.
