If you're looking for an immediate career move that offers immense professional fulfillment, we encourage you to apply now The Role: Leading SEN Learning in Post-16 Education A superb opportunity has arisen for a dedicated QTS SEN Teacher to join a progressive Sixth Form based in Peterborough. This role focuses on teaching small groups of students with a range of moderate to severe learning difficulties, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), who are engaged in a semi-formal, life-skills-focused curriculum. This is a leadership role crucial to the students' transition into adulthood. You will be responsible for planning, delivering and assessing engaging lessons that build independence, functional communication and essential life skills, ensuring that every student's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is met. Key Responsibilities Design and deliver an inspiring and functional semi-formal curriculum tailored to the needs of post-16 learners, focusing on life skills, communication and independence. Lead the classroom environment, confidently and consistently applying Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and proactive techniques to promote self-regulation and positive choices. Provide robust academic and emotional support to students, managing the classroom dynamics with a calm, consistent and structured approach. Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists and parents to create a cohesive and highly effective support network for each student. Monitor, record and report on student progress, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are maintained and EHCP targets are actively pursued. Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential. Proven experience teaching students with SEN, ideally within a specialist or post-16 setting. Experience with semi-formal learning pathways is highly desirable. A strong, demonstrable track record in implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and effective de-escalation techniques. The ability to create a nurturing yet structured classroom environment that fosters both academic and personal growth. Excellent communication, teamwork and leadership skills, with a passionate commitment to the holistic development of young people.
