Child and Youth Care Worker (Fostering) – Kibble Join to apply for the Child and Youth Care Worker (Fostering) role at Kibble. Kibble supports children and young people (aged 5-26) who have experienced trauma and adversity through residential care, education and mental health services. The role involves direct caring work within the community, including lone working and requires a driver’s licence. Key Responsibilities Placement of the child or young person. Working closely with the Family Placement Supervisor and identified foster carer from referral. Reading relevant reports and records to prepare for placement and subsequent support. Identifying medical, social, religious, or dietary requirements and coordinating with foster care. Supporting agreed family contact, facilitating positive relationships, and ensuring the child’s social and educational programme is understood. Ensuring the child is aware of school facilities, family contact arrangements, and procedures for contacting staff over personal concerns or complaints. Maintaining the care and development of children and young people in partnership with foster carers, meeting multi‑disciplinary team targets. Liaising with the area team social worker, parent(s) or relative(s), and Foster Family Support Worker colleagues to coordinate support. Recording and reporting placement plans, and providing necessary reports to the Children’s Panel, Clerk of the Court or Procurator Fiscal within required timescales. Working alone and on own initiative, including lone working within the community. Providing direct practice responsibility for the care and development of several children and young people. Required Profile & Skills Relate to children and young people to build trust and involvement in meeting the requirements of the Children’s Hearing and educational targets. Respond calmly to physical and verbal aggression. Understand relationships between young people, foster carers, and peers; take action to stop bullying and prevent isolation. Recognise signs of physical, emotional or mental abuse and establish open communication. Communicate clearly in writing and orally with internal and external agencies. Co‑work with social workers, educational psychologists, psychiatrists, and other agencies. Apply relevant legislation, human growth stages, and knowledge of offending behaviour. Work self‑motivatedly, manage administrative duties and maintain relationships with children, colleagues, and external partners. Work unsupervised, including lone working in the community. Qualifications and Experience HNC in Social Care or SVQ Level 3 in Care, or willingness to undertake these qualifications. Experience working with young people or vulnerable people essential. Experience in the social care sector or residential childcare desirable. Willingness to work across the Kibble Group, including Safe Centre or Community-Based Services. Residential Child Care requires registration with the SSSC; preference for candidates already eligible for unconditional registration. Full driver’s licence and willingness to drive school transport.
