Job Title: Assistant Social Media Manager (4 month FTC) Reports to: Senior Content Strategist Department: 4Studio Location: Leeds or Manchester Job Grade: P2 Applications Close Date: 24 Nov 2025 Job Purpose: Channel 4 is a world class entertainment brand. The Social team within 4Studio is responsible for further building our world class social media presence. We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Social Media Manager to work alongside the Social Media Manager publishing our content to different accounts within our portfolio, across different platforms, including but not limited to YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, Threads and X. The role will also support building and engaging loyal communities, and interacting with our audiences in line with legal and compliance guidelines and brand Tone of Voice. Key Responsibilities Publish and schedule content across a variety of social accounts and platforms, including optimized metadata, copy, thumbnails and channel management. Understand different brand purposes, tones and behaviours across the Channel 4 portfolio, including the different shows. Work with your Social Media Manager and a Strategist to determine the most effective interaction with 3rd Party Channel 4 branded accounts and Talent accounts. Use platform CMS and tools such as spreadsheets to track and monitor scheduling activity. Analyse data to understand audience behaviours, using content discovery and social media monitoring tools to assess the landscape and adapt content in real time. Understand how platform algorithms can impact performance and optimize content to extend reach and engagement. Ensure content meets community guidelines and advertiser‑friendly content guidelines; work with Legal and Compliance teams. Use the right thumbnail, copy, descriptions and metadata, and amend based on performance. Work with a mix of content types including video, static imagery and written word. Occasional evening or weekend work to support community growth, including live tweeting during events. Essential Experience and Skills Familiarity with social scheduling and publishing tools across native and third‑party applications. Optimize social content for larger or focused audiences, knowing the importance of thumbnails, titles, metadata and tagging. Provide feedback on optimization and style to colleagues creating social content. Experience with social measurement and reporting tools, and using insights to inform future strategy. Skilled copywriter, able to draft, adapt and provide feedback on various styles of copy. Asset creation and/or design experience is an advantage. Curiosity and enthusiasm for culture and new social trends, sharing them with the team. A Team Player Excellent communicator who informs colleagues of new requirements promptly. Team‑oriented, flexible, and supportive of shared goals. Knowledgeable of community guidelines and advertiser‑friendly content; works with Legal and Compliance teams. You’re On It Highly organized, managing asset deliveries, scheduling plans and maximizing content visibility. Strong time‑management skills, meeting deadlines and publishing top‑class content on time. Adaptability to the diverse brands, series, and audiences Channel 4 supports. Conditions Scheduling is typically in advance, but may require working evenings, weekends and bank holidays; time off in lieu will be granted. Agile working is embraced; however, the role is expected to be based in the Leeds or Manchester office for a minimum of 60% of the working week.
