Shift Pattern Week 1 Thursday 15.00 – 19.00 Saturday 07.30 – 14.00 (including a 30 min unpaid break) & 15.00 – 19.00 Sunday 07.30 – 14.00 (including a 30 min unpaid break) & 15.00 – 19.00 Week 2 Thursday 15.00 – 19.00 Friday 15.00 – 19.00 You will be responsible for the day‑to‑day co‑supervision of the FM services and will be the customer’s point of contact for any FM related issues, using a trust vehicle. The FM services comprise cleaning, catering, portering and goods receiving services, linen and laundry management. You will support the management of all the FM Assistants. Ensure that all areas are maintained to a clean and hygienic level for patients, trust staff and visitors in line with current National Standards of Cleanliness. Ensure compliance with legislation relating to both Food Safety and Health and Safety. To deal efficiently with any complaints or issues, report remedial action to FM Supervisor and Facilities Officer. Key Responsibilities To ensure that the ward(s)/areas you are assigned to are cleaned in accordance with the Work Schedule for those wards/areas. This involves vacuuming floors; sweeping, scrubbing and mopping floors; high and low dusting; wiping over and polishing (where applicable) both vertical and horizontal surfaces, mirrors, chairs, bed frames, bins and san‑bins; cleaning toilets, sinks, baths and showers; cleaning cookers, regeneration ovens, fridges, holding fridges, microwaves and other kitchen items; defrosting fridges on a regular basis; restocking consumables such as toilet tissue, hand‑towels and soap; descaling taps; and completing bin routines. Use correct colour‑coded mops, cloths and buckets; store and dispose of items safely to prevent cross‑infection. Report any equipment faults or broken machinery to supervisors, keep equipment clean, maintain safety signs and circuit breakers. Store cleaning materials securely, report any loss of security, and ensure waste, recyclables and clinical waste are disposed of correctly. Assist with food services, including temperature recording for cook‑chill meals, soup, gravy and custard preparation, and wiping cleaning of serving areas. Handle laundry services (washing, drying, ironing, labeling, segregation of clean and soiled items) and maintain clean and tidy laundry areas. Perform portering duties such as delivering pharmacy boxes, medical records, linens, bread, milk, general stores, meal trolleys, collecting dirty linen, waste and letters; and undertake ad‑hoc transport of patients, medical gases, specimens and furniture removal as required. Ensure medical gas supplies are maintained and monitored, deliver liquid nitrogen, operate the electro‑hydraulic waste compactor, and attend community site buildings using trust vehicle for deliveries and collections. Keep the site clear of litter, maintain car‑park bins, assist with vehicular access, support fire brigade requirements, and undertake gritting and snow clearance during severe weather.
