Job Summary Join as a CKD Clinical Nurse Specialist at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. This 10‑month fixed‑term contract offers the chance to work within a multidisciplinary team across Devon and Cornwall. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with the CKD team to provide high‑quality support to patients and their families. Review patients in various clinical settings, including outpatient and inpatient sites, and travel between locations as needed. Manage the CKD team in the absence of the Band 7 lead and ensure coverage of patient caseload during staff leave. Provide nurse‑led CKD clinics on site and at peripheral hospitals. Assist the transplant team by acting as on‑call transplant coordinator and working the transplant rota. Conduct home visits when required. Coordinate education programmes for patients and carers, including those starting renal replacement therapy. Lead or participate in research and clinical audit within the CKD/renal area. Aide in identifying and referring potential transplant recipients. Induct new staff members into the renal service. Essential Qualifications / Experience Registered nurse with demonstrable experience in a similar renal or CKD role. NMC registration and, preferably, post‑registration specialist qualification or equivalent. Strong knowledge of national and regional guideline frameworks pertaining to CKD management. Excellent communication, influencing and leadership skills. Desirable Qualifications / Experience Experience in a leadership capacity within a renal service. Track record of managing a renal service development or similar program. Ability to facilitate change within clinical settings.
