Catering Assistant – Wakefield (Temporary) Our client is looking for a Catering Assistant on a temporary contract based in Wakefield. The role involves serving customers in a polite and friendly manner, basic food preparation, ensuring the kitchen service and seating areas are kept clean, tidy and safe at all times. Responsibilities Serve customers in a polite and friendly manner. Prepare basic food items. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen service and seating areas. Use till system, coffee machines, and assist in kitchen operations. Work on a rolling 4‑week rota, including 3 weekends per month. Follow working hours 08:30 – 16:30. Essential Requirements Experience delivering visitor services in a busy catering or hospitality environment. Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to undertake training. Experience with retail/cash transactions and operating tills. Good verbal communication skills. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Excellent customer care skills with a customer‑centred approach. Desirable Skills NVQ Level 1 Hospitality/Catering qualification or equivalent. First Aid certification. Experience in working large functions. Basic record‑keeping experience. Health and Safety awareness and training. Knowledge of relevant legislation: DDA, Food Hygiene, Health and Safety. Good numeracy and cash handling skills. Polite and friendly towards clients, customers and colleagues. Self‑motivation, commitment and enthusiasm; ability to work calmly under pressure.
