Job Title: Mechanical Project Engineer (MEP Building Services)

Sphere Solutions are working with a Tier 1 Contractor in the Hampshire Area, who are recruiting for a Mechanical Project Engineer.

Based out of the Newbury Office, there will be opportunity or both Hybrid and Site Based work across Hampshire, due to a number of porject wins in the region.

Our client is a leading M&E building services contractor delivering high-quality projects across the commercial, industrial, education, and healthcare sectors. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and successful project delivery, they are now seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join their growing team.

Role Overview

The Mechanical Project Engineer will oversee the mechanical elements of building services projects from design through to installation and handover. This role involves coordinating with design consultants, site teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure the mechanical works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and oversee the mechanical scope of MEP projects from concept to completion.

*

Review mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements and relevant standards.

*

Coordinate with electrical and public health teams to ensure full MEP integration.

*

Liaise with clients, consultants, and main contractors to resolve technical issues and maintain strong working relationships.

*

Prepare and review technical submittals, method statements, and O&M documentation.

*

Monitor installation quality, progress, and performance on-site, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.

*

Support procurement activities — including reviewing material requisitions and supplier quotations.

*

Manage commissioning processes and ensure systems meet design intent and performance criteria.

*

Provide engineering input for design changes, value engineering, and project delivery improvements.

Qualifications & Experience

*

Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.

*

Proven experience working for an M&E contractor or consultancy in a similar project engineering capacity.

*

Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, pipework, chilled water, and general mechanical building services systems.

*

Familiarity with CIBSE and relevant British Standards.

*

Excellent communication and coordination skills across multi-disciplinary teams.

*

Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project financials.

*

CSCS or equivalent site card desirable.
