About This Opportunity Harris Academy Riverside is seeking an experienced, qualified teacher to serve as SENCO. Main Areas of Responsibility Ensure Academy practice complies with the SEND Code of Practice (2014) and other statutory requirements. Work with the Academy Leadership team to promote an ethos of inclusion and a culture of high aspirations for students with SEND. Support the implementation of the Academy SEND Policy and maintain an accurate SEND profile. Identify and assess SEND needs across the Academy using a rigorous and thorough assessment process. Embed Quality First Teaching across the Academy and serve as a role model for differentiation within your own teaching practice. Design and deliver a programme of professional development for staff on SEN, ensuring all staff have the knowledge and skills to plan effectively and enable students with SEND to make expected progress. Track and analyse the progress of students with SEND using Academy data on progress, attainment, referrals, exclusions, detentions, and attendance. Deploy staff and resources according to the needs of SEND students and write a termly report to the Governing Body on progress and developments. What We Are Looking For QTS (or equivalent) and a good undergraduate degree. Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the SENCO role or willingness to undertake this training. Knowledge and understanding of national priorities, current curriculum development and an ability to design and implement an innovative curriculum based on students' needs. A thorough understanding of quality assurance techniques. An appreciation of student motivation and an understanding of how professional development contributes to the raising of quality. SEN experience in a secondary school and evidence of successful teaching experience.
