Job Title Trainee Solicitor Employer PA Consulting Group Location Melbourn, United Kingdom Employment Type Full-time Job Summary PA Consulting Group is seeking a trainee solicitor to join our Cambridge office. The role will involve all aspects of legal and commercial training, providing commercial legal advice to PA’s corporate and business units across the UK, Europe and US, with English law as the basis for training. The Trainee Solicitor will work closely with diverse teams, understand the link between the legal department and business, and ensure high‑quality services and compliance. You will report to the Senior Legal Counsel and enjoy a wide variety of work in a supportive environment. Responsibilities Provision of legal advice – risks and mitigations on contract law, IP and IT law, dispute resolution, employment law, and procurement processes (including public procurement). Review and negotiation of confidentiality agreements, service contracts, subcontract agreements, framework agreements, purchase terms and conditions, and IT licence agreements. Internal support for the legal function – contract summaries, managing online databases and registers, administering large framework agreements, ad hoc tasks for other lawyers and colleagues. Assistance with training production and delivery. Identifying commercial and legal risk and developing suitable mitigation strategies, including supporting business, procurement, audit, promoting best practice, filing documentation, and delivering training to the business. Qualifications Must be able to qualify either through the SQE route or the LPC route (with degree or equivalent). Evidence of problem‑solving ability and experience in customer facing roles. Experience working to deadlines and managing multiple deadlines concurrently. Ability to work with internal clients in other jurisdictions and work both independently and within a close‑knit team. Excellent communication and creative thinking skills, with a pragmatic approach to legal advice. Interest in the wider business and its ventures, and ability to analyse complex legal documentation for commercial risk. Experience in negotiation and clear writing is a benefit but not essential. Ability to pass security screening and right to work in the UK. Security Clearance Some UK roles at PA Consulting require a UK security clearance and a minimum of five years of continuous residency in the UK. Only British citizens or those who have lived in the UK for five years are eligible to apply.
