Our NMC approved programmes are nationally recognised for their high quality, student satisfaction, and sustained high employability of our alumni.Main duties of the jobThe focus of this post is on the delivery of our pre-registration portfolio including BSc and apprenticeship provision. The post holder will be expected to teach a range of core subjects and should have a flexible approach to the subject material they teach. The post holder will, therefore, be committed to promoting academic enquiry, helping develop critical thinking in students by supporting safe, effective and evidence-based practice. By providing expert knowledge, you will lead agreed modules, assess students and supervise projects. The post holder will therefore be provided with the opportunity to advance their professional development to meet the needs of the post and objectives of the school.This post will mainly be based at our satellite campus in Dudley, but may require travel to our Worcester campus on occasions.Job responsibilities1. To contribute through module and / or course leadership to the academic, clinical skills and simulation teaching within the School, drawing on ones own area of specialism and to design teaching sessions which maximise the integration of theory to clinical practice.2. To contribute to the assessment process for students including the setting, marking and moderation of work, individually or collectively as part of a team in accordance with quality assurance procedures.3. To contribute to the design and development of innovative, inclusive, and inspiring learning materials and assessments including e-learning.4. To act as a Personal Academic Tutor, which includes Individual Learner Progress Reviews (ILPR`s).5. To ensure all teaching, learning and assessment activity meets the requirements of university quality assurance processes and external quality standards such as the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IFATE) occupational standards aligned to the Professional Body standards (Nursing and Midwifery Council, NMC), The Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) and are compliant with the Educational and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).6. To provide support for external quality inspections (e.g. OFSTED, NMC, EFSA), which may be at short notice, and may necessitate working outside of normal office hours.7. To engage as an Academic Assessor to collate and confirm student achievement of NMC proficiencies and programme outcomes.8. To carry out academic administrative work and participate in relevant committees within the School and College.9. To participate in the recruitment of students, including selection events and open days.10. To ensure that the teaching for which you are responsible is informed by contemporary research, scholarship, knowledge exchange and professional practice, and develops the ability of students to engage in debate, critical discourse and thinking.11. Where appropriate, to undertake research, scholarship, and knowledge transfer through engaging in professional practice and contributing to research and its dissemination through publication.12. Participate fully in the life of the School and carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of School or her / his nominee.13. To participate in annual staff development and review processes.14. Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job; participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training.15. Take steps to ensure and enhance personal health, safety, and well-being and that of other staff and students.16. Carry out these duties in a manner that promotes equality of opportunity and supports diversity and inclusion and takes into account the University's commitment to environmentally sustainable ways of working.*The above does not represent an exhaustive list of duties associated with this role.Person SpecificationKnowledge and SkillsDemonstrable capacity to make a substantial contribution to the Learning & Teaching agenda within the nursing curriculum(s).A sound understanding of Apprenticeships, including regulatory and quality assurance processes.High level of ICT proficiency for teaching and administration purposes.Awareness of national strategic and policy developments in health and social care.Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate confidently and clearly with a range of people including students, lecturers, managers, representatives of external organisations and the public, both orally and in writing.Evidence of effective team-working and interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire, influence and motivate others through collaborative working practices.Clear evidence of sustained continuous professional development.Essential for Senior Lecturer (Teaching): Excellent awareness of both educational and health policy, development, and practice.ExperienceExperience of teaching nursing students / apprentices on NMC approved programmes, with evidence of successful student learning outcomes and good pedagogic practice.Relevant professional educational / practice experience.QualificationsA first degree in Nursing or a relevant health subject.Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registerable qualification in Nursing.Current registration with the NMC.Post Graduate Certificate Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGCTHE).Essential for Senior Lecturer (Teaching): Relevant Masters qualification or working towards. #J-18808-Ljbffr
