What you'll be doingObserves and monitors the wellbeing of patients, ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.Provide specific interventions with patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse, following training and competency attainment. Interventions include Observation and Engagement with Patients, escorting patients on leave, and involvement in de-escalation and management of violence and aggression.Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the multidisciplinary team.Participate in regular ward meetings and attend other meetings as requested.Assist in the maintenance of stock levels, including pharmaceutical products.Assist in the maintenance of ward cleanliness and tidiness and adhere to infection control policy and procedures at all times.Develop and maintain a good professional relationship with patients, colleagues and visitors, responding promptly and courteously to requests and enquiries.Help promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of patients and carers.Receive and convey information from telephone or personal enquiries in a courteous manner and ensure all persons visiting the ward are greeted and assisted in a welcoming and supportive manner.Healthcare qualification or experience is desirable but not essential. We are also looking for individuals with transferable skills from customer-facing roles or recent graduates who have completed their studies in a relevant field. We seek individuals who display the right values and behaviours to make a positive difference in people\'s lives; excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature.Empathy, understanding and patience.Ability to work on your own and as part of a team.Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures.The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges.Competent in verbal and written English.A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential.This role includes a mix of day and night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays. Day shifts: 7:25 am – 7:45 pm; Night shifts: 7:25 pm – 7:45 am. The rota includes 3 months of day shifts followed by 1 month of night shifts.Stockton Hall is a long-serving medium secure hospital based in a quiet but well-connected village near the historic city of York.
