OverviewHydrologist - Senior/Principal (WINEP and Water Resources) role at WSP. The position involves leading and contributing to high-profile Water Industry Natural Environment Programme (WINEP) and Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP) projects across the UK within the Sustainable Water Management team.Your teamOur Catchment Science team covers water resources and water security, hydrology and hydraulics, water quality, hydroecology and hydrogeology. We serve high-profile customers in the UK and overseas, including government departments and agencies, the water industry, and other sectors such as power, transport, nuclear, mining, commercial and oil and gas.ResponsibilitiesA track record of contributing to the hydrological and water management elements of WINEP investigations and WRMP inputs in recent AMP cycles.Development of rainfall runoff models and calibration techniques.Understand broader hydrology approaches for water resources applications in England and Wales.Familiarity with demand management and water resources modelling approaches.Understand latest UK water resources management regulations including the Water Resources Planning Guidelines and WINEP guidance such as Preventing Deterioration and Environmental Destination.Assess climate change resilience approaches; produce high-quality client and regulator-facing deliverables with attention to detail and QA.Programming experience (e.g., Python and/or R) and an interest in developing these skills.Excellent communication skills and ability to write high-quality concise reports.Collaborate with other sectors/disciplines to deliver hydrological aspects of challenging projects.QualificationsA water-focused MSc (e.g., hydrology & water resources, sustainable water management) and BSc in related subject (e.g., physical geography, earth sciences, geology, civil engineering).Gained or working towards chartership with a relevant professional body.What we offerJoin our world-class team with opportunities to shape a career as unique as you.
