BANK ASD diagnostic Specialist Paediatric Speech & Language Therapist Bank position in the Specialist Children and Young People’s Services (SCYPS), Newham. Job Summary Bank opportunity. Shift availability demand-dependent. No guarantee of minimum hours. Successful candidates will already be experienced in ASD diagnostics. Appointment to undertake ASD diagnostic assessments for children and young people aged 2‑11 years, working in partnership with a multi‑disciplinary team. Key Duties Provide specialist SLT assessment within the autism diagnostic pathway CHAND. Conduct ADOS assessments as part of diagnostic assessment. Participate in joint and single clinician assessments. Produce autism assessment reports for families, adhering to pathway standards. Advise parents and professionals on creating a supportive communication environment. Contribute to multi‑professional assessments of neuro‑developmental conditions and develop streamlined care pathways. Person Specification Essential Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent. Health Professionals Council licence to practice. Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses. Successful completion of core SLT competencies at band 5. Experience at undergraduate/post‑graduate level. Experience of assessment, intervention, goal‑setting and developing therapy programmes post‑registration. Experience of assessing and providing intervention for autistic children (communication). Experience of community and school based work. Experience of working with multidisciplinary or multi‑agency partners. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, problem‑solving, analytical, reflection and concentration skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including clear and concise report writing. Ability to manage own caseload, prioritise, and work independently or within partnership. Working knowledge of relevant IT and record keeping standards. Willingness to work flexibly across sites. Desirable Registered Member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists. Membership of relevant Special Interest Groups / CEN. Experience of delivering training. Other Disclosure and Barring Service Check required. UK professional registration required. Contract & Compensation Bank contract. Flexible working.
