About our apprenticeships

Our apprenticeships are paid roles where you will learn and gain valuable on-the-job experience, whilst also completing classroom-based learning either in person or virtually with a college, university or training provider which upon completion of the apprenticeship leads to a nationally recognised qualification.

The apprenticeship will typically be undertaken over two to six years depending on the level of the apprenticeship, and during this time you will be provided with real-life experience working on a variety of exciting projects that are helping to shape tomorrow's world.

Job Description

Our apprenticeships span a range of different sectors and are based within a variety of different teams working on a wide range of projects. If you're invited to an interview, this is when we will discuss in more detail the specifics of the job role you applied for and what it involves.

You'll be working with graduates, experienced professionals, and other apprentices, so an apprenticeship with us is the perfect opportunity to learn from a variety of people while understanding our values and culture.

With our apprenticeships, you can really make the role your own. The more you get involved and the more questions you ask, the more you will gain.

  • Undertaking site surveys, as part of new design projects and in support of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments;
  • Capturing photography in accordance with industry guidelines and standards;
  • Preparing designs, drawings and visualisations using graphic's packages such as Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Adobe Suite;
  • Processing landscape data including photography and written information using applications such as Excel, Word and InDesign packages.

The candidate's long-term responsibilities will include:

Providing support to members of the landscape team in the co-ordination of landscape data, preparation of project deliverables including designs, specifications, reports, visualisations and presentation material.

Candidate Specification

To join us for an apprenticeship you must meet the eligibility requirements of the relevant training provider. Successful completion of a Level 2 apprenticeship in a relevant discipline or Five GCSEs, including English and Maths, which are equivalent to GCSE grade 4 and above (C and above).

We are looking for students with the following characteristics:

  • A methodical approach to problem solving.
  • The ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail.

From the moment you join us, you'll receive the training you need. You will be assigned a mentor, who will guide you to meet the objectives of your apprentice agreement. We'll support you on your journey to completing the apprenticeship and your career aspirations beyond.

What else is involved?

You'll be enrolled onto Accelerate Your Future, a structured three-year soft-skills development programme which develops the strengths that we know apprentices need to be successful at Mott MacDonald. It also gives you the opportunity to network and meet other apprentices and graduates in your cohort. The programme is a mix of residential events, classroom-based learning, virtual webinars, and sustainability and social impact challenges.

In addition to developing your soft skills, we recognise that each person's career goals vary, so when rolling off the programme we provide you with the tools and support to develop your ongoing career the way you wish to. Alongside our vast library of e-learning courses available to you, you can choose which direction you want your career to go in.
